In 2008 Igloo entered into a partnership arrangement with DHL and are trialing new innovative technologies that are genuinely glimpses in to the future of logistics. The most exciting development to date being the trial of the DHL Smartsensor, a slimline RFID tag that travels with products at case level recording and tracing their temperature throughout transit, uploading this data at RFID control points through the supply chain without the need to open the package, and alerting monitors to any deviation from specification. New technology designed to head temperature issues off at the pass and prevent costly damages and delays.
